Action needed when renewing car insurance
From 31st March 2025, a new legal requirement under the Road Traffic Act will come into effect. All drivers will have to submit a correct and verified driver number when purchasing or renewing an insurance policy.
Where To Find Your Driver Number
The Irish driver number is a 9-digit number that stays with the licence holder throughout their driving history.
It appears in field 4d of the plastic card licence or permit (please note - your driver number contains no letters).
